What pet supplement OEM actually costs: actives, pack, MOQ and whose clock

What pet supplement OEM actually costs is not the WhatsApp unit price. The email after the romantic OEM page is almost always cost, minimum order and lead time. Here is the factory version, with our numbers labelled as ours and other plants' published floors labelled as theirs.

A quotation is not a unit price shouted on WhatsApp. It is format, pack, tests, volume and Incoterm. Skip one and someone invents it later.

Three things that move the invoice

Actives. Glucosamine, a named oil, a branded strain, colostrum. Generic vs branded is a cost conversation. Organic and single-origin stories are an added file, not a checkbox. If the label needs a trademarked active, say so. We will not discover it at artwork.

The matrix. A flavoured soft chew costs more to run than an unflavoured powder. Custom shapes need tooling. A live probiotic chew is a process problem. See soft chew OEM.

The pack. Packaging can dwarf the fill on a short run. A custom bottle, a foil pouch with a unique zipper, or a three-language carton on 500 units is how a "cheap chew" becomes an expensive project. Match a catalogue pouch until the listing proves out. Premium pack is a second decision.

Catalogue reference prices on our site start near US$1.62 per unit and exclude packaging. Treat that as planning, not a locked PO.

MOQ is a machine conversation, then a unit conversation

A line needs a minimum of material to run without making the changeover the whole day. Plants quote that as kilos or as units. Then sales converts it to bottles. Then a buyer compares 500 to 3000 and thinks they found a lie.

Ask unit vs bottle every time. Some China pages mean 500 bottles of 60 chews. A US plant has published chew minimums around 504 units. Our stock chew floor is 500 units per SKU on the quotation for the SKUs that say so. Oils, calming chews and several cat SKUs sit at 3000. Hairball paste is 1000. The PDF wins.

Lower MOQ is for a test. It is not the cheapest unit cost you will ever see. Reorder tiers belong in the first quote if you already know the band.

Lead time: whose clock

Industry comparison pages talk 6 to 15 weeks once you count components. Custom ODM pages talk 14 to 22 weeks. Private-label pages talk 30 to 60 days when pack and claims are already decided.

Our stock path: samples 7 to 15 days, production 25 to 35 days after approval, first branded project 8 to 14 weeks with artwork. Repeat orders collapse toward the production window plus freight. Ingredient shortages and custom bottles add time. A "10-day production" claim that ignores artwork and freight is a partial clock.

Incoterm is the other quiet line. FOB Shanghai and DDP are different invoices. If the quote is silent, the chat price is not a price.
