Private Label oder Custom-Rezept: Zeit, IP, welche Uhr läuft

Kurzantwort

Private Label bei Beno: Katalogrezept mit Ihrer Marke. Sie besitzen die Ware, nicht das geteilte Rezept. Custom/ODM braucht extra Musterwochen. Erstes Stock-Projekt: 8 bis 14 Wochen. Andere nennen 14 bis 22 ab Null. Anderer Job.

Private Label oder Custom-Rezept: Zeit, IP, welche Uhr läuft

Feelshine has a URL that is almost this title. Hanyun and Doowoo spend half their OEM pages defining OEM, ODM and private label. Buyers still mix them in one WhatsApp. Here is the version we use on the floor, with money and time attached.

Private label at Beno: a stock formula, your brand on the pack. You own the goods you buy. You do not own the recipe unless a separate contract says so.

Custom formula / ODM: we write or heavily change a recipe against your brief. Sampling loops. Higher commercial threshold. Longer clock.

OEM in our emails often means "we manufacture to a spec," which can be either path. If you say OEM and mean exclusive IP on day one, write exclusive IP. Words matter.

Time and what you actually receive

Private label on a catalogue chew: samples 7 to 15 days, production 25 to 35 days after approval, first branded project 8 to 14 weeks with artwork. MOQ 500 units on the stock chews that quote that number.

ODM: add formula work and extra sampling. Other factories publish 14 to 22 weeks for a from-scratch project. That range is plausible when the recipe does not exist. It is not our stock-chew clock. We will tell you which clock you are on after the brief.

You do not get a secret recipe on a 500-unit private-label PO. You get a proven matrix and a faster listing. That is the point of the path in 500-unit private label.

When custom is worth it

The catalogue cannot hit a market rule (no melatonin in the EU calming SKU). The catalogue cannot hit a flavour a buyer already sells. You have a formula you already sell and need a second plant. You need a dose the chew cannot hold, so we move to powder or tablet.

When custom is not worth it: you want "exclusive" on the subject line and have no volume. You want six actives the matrix cannot carry. You want a new dosage form invented for 500 pieces.

IP and NDA

If you send a proprietary formula, we expect an NDA before the full recipe. If we develop a custom formula, the contract says who owns what. Chat messages do not.

Shared stock formulas stay shared. That shocks some first-time Amazon sellers. It should not. The whole reason 500 units is possible is that the line already knows the piece.

Pick the path in the first email. Mixing "stock price, exclusive formula" is how quotes stall. OEM process is the week-by-week. Inquiry is the form.

Häufige Fragen

Do I own the formula on a private-label order?
Not the shared stock recipe. You own the brand, the artwork and the finished goods you purchase. Exclusive ownership needs a written ODM contract.
When is custom formula worth it?
When the catalogue cannot meet a market rule, a flavour you already sell, or a dose the chew cannot hold. It is not worth it if you only want the word exclusive on a 500-unit test.
Will you sign an NDA before I send my recipe?
Yes, before a full proprietary formula. Chat messages are not an IP assignment.
